Behind the Photos: May

Dust from the road sticks to your face as you ride a rickshaw through the Indian roads. The buildings you whiz by gradually get more and more dilapidated. Finally, you arrive in the slums. You expect to see long, sad faces and horrific sights. Instead, you see this group eagerly awaiting your return. You’re on your second day helping a local ministry that provides after school programs. These programs support physical, mental and spiritual development for those who otherwise who have no opportunities to escape the cycle of poverty in this nation. Despite having very little material things, everyday these children greet you with the biggest smiles and joyful hearts. It’s through this ministry and its supporters like you that they are able to  experience the love and fullness of Jesus Christ.
